--From the text of the exhibition introduction-- 

There is a passage of time that is felt only now with the Corona disaster.

Today, the calendar function is contained within our smartphones, and we find little reason for it to exist on its own.

However, I have my doubts that our relationship with the calendar, which is said to be as old as 3,000 years, has remained unchanged, and by exploring new relationships between the calendar and people, I believe we can discover what is necessary for our lives today.

The current situation is also an opportunity to think about the calendar. The way we spend our time is very different now than it was a year ago.

We are not free to go where we want to go, and we are not able to get together with the people we want to meet without restrictions. 

Precisely under such a situation, there is the passage of time that we can feel, and there is a relationship between time and us that we should think about.

This exhibition is the result of the exploration of the relationship between calendars and our lives from the perspective of product design.

After reviewing the history of the calendar and its place in our current lifestyles, we will explore the relationship on two axes: how a wall affects a person, and how a person affects a wall.

We then reconsider the relationship between the calendar and us, and propose new tools that embody this relationship.

What kind of shape and function will emerge when the calendar is considered as a research project by the art university?

This exhibition is the result of an exploration to reconsider the relationship between people and tools that have not changed their roles for a long time, and are now disappearing.

コロナ禍の今だからこそ感じる時の流れがあります。

現代ではカレンダーの機能はスマホに内包され、 それが独立して存在する理由はほとんど見つかりません。

でも、 3000年前からあるといわれるほどの歴史を持つカレンダーと私達 の関係が、ずっと変わらないことに疑問はあるし、 カレンダーと人との新しい関係性を探究することで、 私達の暮らしに今必要なことも見えてくるように思います。

今の状況も、 カレンダーについて考える好機です。 今、 私達は一年前とは時間の過ごし方 が大きく変わっています。

行きたい所に自由に行けず、 会いたい人達とも制限無しには集ま れない。 

そんな中でこそ感じられる時の流れがあり、 考えるべき時間と私達との関係性が あると思います。

そんなカレンダーと我々の関係について、 プロダクトデザインの視点で探求した結果を 今回は展示しています。

カレンダーの歴史と現在の暮らしに於ける位置づけを整理した後、 カレンダーが人に与える影響と 人が壁に与える影響という二つの軸で関係を深掘りしてゆきます。

そして、 カレンダーと私達の間にある関係性を再考し、それを具現化する新たな道具を提案します。

芸術大学が研究としてカレンダーを捉えた時、 どんな形と機能がそこに現れるのでしょうか？

カレンダーをはじめ、 長い間役割を変えていない道具達が消えゆく現代で、 改めて人と物との関係性を考え直す探求の成果です。
